Notice pay rises in steps, not gradually

The moment service passes a threshold, the notice period jumps by two whole weeks. See which step you are on and what that step is worth in wages.

Service and wage

Enter the period as years and months separately; leftover days do not change the step, so they are not asked for.

Passing a threshold by one day adds two weeks

Notice periods are stepped rather than proportional. That is why how close the termination date is to a threshold changes the amount noticeably.

No compensation if the period is actually served

If the employer lets the notice period be worked, no payment is made; during it they must grant time off to look for work.

Paying in advance closes the period

The contract can be ended immediately by paying the amount upfront. In that case the length of service is not treated as extended by the notice period.

A reinstatement claim runs separately

Notice pay having been paid does not prevent a reinstatement claim against a termination without valid cause.

Formula

The calculation in four steps

Each line in the panel is the output of one of these steps.

years × 12 + months

Convert service to months

Total service is reduced to months; the steps of the ladder are defined against month thresholds.

band → weeks

Find the band

Whichever range the service falls into, that band’s notice period applies. There are no intermediate values; the step is instant.

gross ÷ 30

Reduce to a daily rate

The monthly gross wage is divided by thirty, because in Turkish labour law a month is always taken as 30 days.

daily × days

Multiply by the period

The notice period in days is multiplied by the daily wage. The result is gross notice pay.

FAQ

Frequently asked about notice pay

It is the price of not telling the other side in advance that you intend to terminate. The notice period is the transition time given for the employee to find new work, or for the employer to find a replacement. If the relationship ends without that period being served, the wage corresponding to it is paid as compensation.

The calculator produces a gross amount under Article 17 of Labour Law No. 4857; it does not convert to net, because tax and deductions vary with each person’s cumulative annual base. It is for information only and does not replace a payroll output.

Bring the exit calculations into one file

When the notice band, length of service and leave balance are all read from the same employee record, the exit paperwork is prepared without anyone calculating by hand.
